Cost of Waiting

Have you ever count how much the cost of waiting?
Is it relative or countable?

Waiting consists of several element :
1. Time, (of course)
2. Energy
3. money
4. opportunity

If you want to count waiting as Speed for wireless browsing, you can count the cost to get the HSDPA speed compare to GPRS one. Here are the cost (all in rupiahs) :
1. Modem : around 1.5 million
2. Space to get HSDPA Network :
a. Lucky if you are already in the network : 0
b. You need to go to somewhere else which is costed, let s say : 20 thousand (for around Jakarta
c. It is very rare to get 3.2 Mbps, unless you don't want to share your network to other. But if you are very rich, you can get your own BTS costed : (anyone can help? i don't know the cost). We can ignore this, only "crazy" person will do this solution
3. The cost of the service : 125 thousand (Telkomsel Flash unlimited and if you already have HALO card)

So, the cost of waiting based on wireless speed internet connection is around 1,645 million rupiahs.

Waiting is 1,645 million rupiahs

Another comparison, waiting in the middle of traffic jam while you are going home to coastal areas of Jakarta from the central of Jakarta.
The cost is :
1. House pricing around the central of Jakarta, let say : 1 billion
2. or maybe, you need a Helicopter to get home, so you need :
a. a Helicopter
b. a Helipad
c. Helipad parking in the office
d. The gasoline
For this option, i am so sorry, cause i dont have the data. But it seems impossible for human in general, so let s just forget this cost.

The minimum cost for waiting based on traffic jam is 1 billion rupiahs.

Waiting is 1 billion rupiahs.

We can't have a default cost for waiting. But it doesn't mean we can't count it. We can do count by analyze the cost to our body. Waiting for the browsing page show up and waiting in the traffic jam cause something to our body called stress. How much this stress effects our body functionality? How much the DNA mutated caused of waiting?
And the cost is how we can get all the loss body functionality back and how the DNA combination comes back to where it is.
I think we can take this as first formula cost of waiting. So, who want to be the first to count?
Or maybe, there already the one who made up to count, scientifically.

We need this formula. Our country need it. So, next time, if you want to wait or make someone else waiting, you can count it and compare between the cost and the result. If it is profitable, then just wait :) if it is not, why you have to wait?

looking at your previous and this post, i guest you have a problem with several common problem of 'waiting' in Jakarta such as in traffic jam, or maybe something else. That bothers you a lot, so you trying to help yourself by identifying how much you have lost during waiting moment. And it makes waiting even worse. Am i right? :P

yes, you're right.
but, this post is inspired by low-speed internet connection..
somehow, it can make me dizzy :)

so, there must be connection between waiting and human metabolism.
